Team Bios - James Johnson

James is a Senior in Engineering with a Mechanical Specialty at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. Following a passion toward space exploration, James became a cooperative education student at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. He has played an active role in the STS-106, 92, 97, 104, and 112 space shuttle missions participating in areas including the EVA (Extravehicular Activities – “spacewalking”), Payload Operations, and Shuttle Environmental Systems disciplines in Mission Control. At the Colorado School of Mines, he works closely with the Center for Commercial Applications of Combustion in Space and has had a pivotal role in the design and development of the CCACS Control Center for future International Space Station experiment operations. James aspires to be actively involved in future Lunar/Mars missions either as a flight controller in Mission Control or as crew. In his free time, he enjoys SCUBA diving, rock climbing, sailing, and partaking in random adventures.
