Solar sail Operations Linking Academic Researchers (SOLAR)
Team Bios - Jayleen Guttromson

Hi! My name is Jayleen Guttromson and I'm a junior in Aeronautical and
Astronautical Engineering (AAE) at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.
Go Boilermakers! I'm currently on my second co-op rotation at NASA Johnson
Space Center in Houston, Texas, working in the EVA and Space Suits Branch. I'm
originally from Fargo, North Dakota, and as long as I can remember I’ve wanted
to become an astronaut.
SOLAR combines universities, intellect, and friends working together to build
two projects involving solar sails. As
a member of SOLAR Alpha, I’m looking forward to the challenges and learning
opportunities our dynamic team has before us during the KC-135 Reduced Gravity
Program. [Keep checking back to see our milestones and progress over
the next couple of months.] I’ve
flown once before on the “Vomit Comet” with Purdue University’s Freshman
Honors team and the experience is truly out of this world.
I’m fortunate to be a part of an awesome collaboration effort with
optimistic, outgoing, and enthusiastic students wanting to impact the future of
space exploration.
