Team Bios - Mike Cunico

My name is Mike Cunico and I’m a native of New Jersey but have been living in a small Southern Illinois town of Belle Prairie for the past eight years. For the past two and a half years, I’ve been studying Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at Saint Louis University’s Parks College of Aviation and Engineering in the heart of Saint Louis, Missouri. Currently, I am partaking in NASA’s Undergraduate Student Researcher Program (USRP) at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, hoping to gain experience that would be useful in completing my life’s aspirations of one day working for NASA or one of its contractors. I hope to be able to work on projects involving the International Space Station, Shuttle Orbiter, and future goals such as Man’s First Mission to Mars. The reason why I joined S.O.L.A.R was to obtain an even greater experience working along side fellow students to design something that will hopefully one day cross the chasm of space between our home planet Earth and Mars.
