Solar sail Operations Linking Academic Researchers (SOLAR)

    Team Bios - Toni Moreno

Born in Chicago (aka the WINDY city), IL on December 14, 1981....which means 21 here I come!!! Attended St. Ignatius College Prep for a semester and later transfered and graduated from Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, IN. There I was the "girl who did everything" from Senior class president to captain of my dance team. Decided to further my education at Saint Louis University and major in Aerospace engineering. There I am the "girl who does nothing, but homework!! and work", but then again what engineering student doesn't fall under that title??

When at school I work at Washington University's Medical School in the Genome Squencing department. There I analyze DNA, and our results are published annually for other researchers and companies to refer to. This past summer I interned with American Airlines in the safety department. I downloaded data of the flight data recorders. Using that data I was able to create an animation replica of the flight's path using the program FlightViz. In doing so, we were able to get a better idea of why there may have been complications during the flight, analyze and conclude.

Currently, I am a coop with Lockheed Martin here in Houston, TX. I work on-site at the JSC in Building 29 in the IVA Flight Crew Equipment department. Some projects I've worked/working on are configuring DVD players for flight; helped fabricate a 2-Phase thermal Bus System for testing by NASA, also helped with the software section of the manual for that project; reconfigured bar code readers for flight; and am currently working with hardware (tools) that just came out of orbit and transfering them into a new tool box design per the astronauts requests. I must say though that my best project I worked on was washing the astronauts (future) clothes!!! :)
